The bronze statue of one of Queensland's finest sons was erected in Roma St. in 1966 and because of subsequent road works over the years, it stood isolated by Turbot, Roma and Albert Streets. When the Inner Northern Tunnel section was being built it was decided to relocate the bronze to Post Office Square where his effigy now stands atop a new plinth overlooking Anzac Square.
